Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments can be covered in several ways:
Medicare Part A
This requires a three-midnight hospital stay for the resident in the last 30 days and requires the need for skilled nursing or therapy services. If the resident qualifies for this service, Medicare will pay the full amount for the first twenty days. Days 21 through 100 are paid in part by Medicare. If a resident has a Medicare Supplement insurance policy it will usually cover the part not paid by Medicare. Under the Medicare program the resident is re-evaluated on the 5th, 14th, 30th, 60th and 90th days to determine eligibility for continued coverage. A resident's need must continue to meet care requirement guidelines to remain on the Medicare A program.
This program assists residents in paying the cost of nursing home care. There are financial need requirements that must be met to be eligible for this program. The business office and social services will be glad to assist you in answering your questions or directing you on how to apply. The Division of Family Services in Chillicothe MO can provide you with complete information. One important change in recent years is the "division of assets" provision. This is a great help in situations where one spouse requires nursing home care and the other continues to live in the community. Be sure to ask us about it.
Residents pending approval for funding by Medicaid (Title XIX) will pay their Social Security and/or pension income minus $40.00 for resident's personal use. All payments are due on a monthly basis.
Private pay is common in situations where an individual has adequate financial resources. Now many people also have long term care insurance policies that may help with this too. The business office will be glad to assist you in filing your long term care insurance. All self-paying residents pay 30 days in advance on the day of admission. Refunds are pro-rated to the day of discharge.
BED HOLDS and RE-ADMISSION POLICY:
It is the policy of Sunnyview Nursing Home & Apartments that during the absence of any resident for any reason, the regular charge herein shall apply until the room is released and all belongings are removed, unless otherwise specified by Administration. Resident(s) or their representative shall notify Sunnyview Nursing Home & Apartments Social Services Department regarding whether the resident(s) bed should be held, or whether the resident(s) should be discharged. If notice is received, the resident(s) bed will automatically be held and charges will continue to accrue.
Private pay individuals will have a bed held for 10 days at no charge, only when in the hospital. (If they want to hold the bed that they have been residing in, a $50.00 per day payment will be required). Thereafter a payment of $50.00 (per day) is received to hold their bed or until a request has been made to release the room by the resident(s), responsible party or legal representative.
Upon a resident’s discharge to the hospital the Business Office or Social Services Office will contact the resident(s) family on the 11th day following discharge, to clarify if the resident(s) responsible party will need to pick up the resident(s) belongings.
For hospitalizations for those individuals receiving assistance through the Medicaid program, a bed will be held for a maximum of 10 days when the individual has been hospitalized. There will be no charges to the resident for these 10 days. If Sunnyview Nursing Home & apartments is at 97% capacity and payment is due from Medicaid for holding an individual’s bed, the bed will be held for the number of days allowed under the Medicaid program or a maximum of 10 days if payment is not forthcoming. At the time that the bed hold is up, again, the individual will not be charged for unpaid days up to 10 days.
All residents, when being discharged, will be charged a full days rent, should they remain in the facility, after 12:00P.M. Residents being discharged prior to 12:00 P.M. will not be charged for that day.
Sunnyview Nursing Home & Apartments strongly suggests that residents not leave the facility for overnight home visits, extended trips to other locations, etc., when Medicare is paying for their stay. Medicare will not pay for the days a resident is not in the facility. Also, Medicare has the philosophy that if you are well enough go out on overnight visits, etc., then you are too well to be receiving skilled care with Medicare paying the bill.
Should the resident choose to leave against this advice, they will be responsible for the daily charges of room and board, medications, treatments etc. Residents will not be guaranteed that Medicare will allow them to be re-certified for skilled care upon their return. Thus making the resident responsible for any continuing care, therapy, medications, treatments, room and board, etc.
Resident's refunds are mailed within 30 days of discharge (With Medicaid and Medicare, this usually takes between 60 and 90 days.)
Barber/Beauty Shop Charges
Basic barber/beauty shop service is provided at no charge. Perms and Coloring is available at an additional charge.
Medical Supply Charges
General medical supplies and personal care items are included in the rates. Residents requesting a specific product or special items not generally available may be able to to have them ordered through Central Supply. The charges for these items will be billed each month. You may inquire at the Business Office for a copy of all such charges.
Over the Counter Medication
Over the counter medications are included in the rates for Medicaid and Medicare residents. Private pay residents are responsible for the cost of all over the counter medications prescribed by their doctor.

Semi Private room $147.00 per day effective July 1, 2016
Single Apartment $90.00 per day effective July 1, 2016
Double Apartment $175.00 per day effective July 1, 2016
New Unit B Apartment $93.00 per day effective July 1, 2016
New Unit C Apartment $108.00 per day effective July 1, 2016
